Anyone interested in running for local, elected office is encouraged to attend an informational seminar, organized through the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Officials from the city, county and school district will provide an overview of offices open for election, how to file for those offices and what to expect once elected. Current office holders (not up for re-election) will share their perspectives on campaigning, as well as how they balance personal, professional and elected responsibilities.

The seminar is 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the City Council Chambers (500 Fourth Ave. NE).

The seminar is free as a public service by the Chamber and is co-sponsored by KAUS AM/FM Radio and the Austin Daily Herald. Materials will be provided. Call the Chamber at 507-437-4561 for more information.
