Hazel Arlene Hinz, 93, of Hot Springs Village, Ark. was called home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2012.

Hazel was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Armstrong, Iowa, the daughter of William Hinz and Grace nee Austin. Hazel lived in Austin, Minn. for many years. In addition to raising her family, Hazel was a real estate sales lady, and after her husband died, she served for a time in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. She was the last of the founding members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Austin. The last years of her life Hazel was a member of Living Water Lutheran Church of Hot Springs Village.

Hazel was married to Charles Hinz, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were brothers George and Arthur Hinz, sisters Pearl Anderson and Ruth Sorenson, children Mary Ann and Robert Hinz, and grandson Michael Hinz.

She is survived by her sons Roger (Sharon) Hinz of Hot Springs Village and Richard (Ann) Hinz of Oronoco; daughter Kathleen Schatz of Hot Springs Village; brother Roy Hinz of Buffalo Center, Iowa; sisters Betty Wohlford of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Darlene Larsen of Kansas City, Miss., Phyllis (Duane) Dahl of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Lavonne (Weldon) Ziemann of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

The Christian funeral service for Hazel will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home of Austin, with Pastor Ralph Scharf officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated for the Building Fund of Luther High School of Onalaska, Wis. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
