John “Flutch” L. Fletcher, 69, of St. Peter, Minn. died May 5, 2012, at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter.

John was born Aug. 22, 1942 to Karl and Margaret (Hopfe) Fletcher. He attended school in Austin, Minn. On Feb. 15, 1971, John married Catherine Salisbury in Daytona, Fla. He worked for his uncles on a car lot in Austin, and later owned and operated car garages in Austin. He moved to St. Peter in 1978 and worked for Halletes Construction, then Komatz Construction and finally Geldner Construction. John was a member of Red Men Lodge in St. Peter, Minn. He enjoyed NASCAR and, in his early years, he raced stock cars.

John is survived by family in St. Peter, including his wife Catherine; daughter Sherri (Todd) Terhurne; and grandchildren Taylor, John, Stephen and Anna. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather and several other relatives.

A celebration of family and friends will be held at Red Men Lodge in St. Peter Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. St. Peter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
