The Friends of the Library and the American Association of University Women would like to thank residents of Austin and Mower County for their generous donations of materials for our Spring Used Book Sale held on April 27 and 28 at the Austin Public Library.

Our gratitude to everyone who came to the sale and purchased used books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and audio books. Our grand total was over $6,000, more than any other sale. Your generosity will provide more scholarships for Riverland students and more funds for library programs and support materials. Special thanks to Milly Burroughs for chairing this event, her family, and all the volunteers. Sara Steinhoff designed and produced the posters, bookmarks, and teacher coupons to promote the sale. The Austin Daily Herald did an excellent job with their coverage. Thanks also to Mike Delhanty for organizing the Bruins hockey team to help move boxes of books from storage. Our thanks to all the individuals who made this sale a success.

Save the date — The fall sale is Oct. 5 and 6, with a presale for Friends of the Library members only on Oct. 4. Become a Friend of the Library for $10 per year. Membership forms are at the Austin Public Library desk.
