Betty Lou (Martinson) Thompson was born in Albert Lea on March 2, 1927, to Roy and Stella (Reeder) Martinson; she was raised in Twin Lakes, and in 1944 she graduated from Albert Lea High School. Betty met Lauritz (Lorrie) I. Thompson at a 4-H meeting. They were united in marriage on March 11, 1945, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. They spent their entire married life farming. In 1964 they bought a farm east of Myrtle, where they spent the rest of their lives. Lauritz passed away in February 2000. Betty was an avid horse lover. She was also an excellent accordion player and found a way to enjoy both at the same time. She was invited to various horse show venues, in several Midwest states, to be the main musical entertainment. Everyone who knew Betty knew her as a loving and caring person.
Betty is survived by her brother-in-law Ernest O. Thompson of Emmons; sisters-in-law: Helen Edwin and husband Robert of Albert Lea and Beula Thompson of Silver Lake, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews; friends, neighbors, Amish friends, foster sons and loving caregivers.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lauritz; parents and parents-in-law; very special sister-in-law Mavis Nordaas, and brother-in-law Siram M. Thompson.
