Angeline “Angie” Read, 90, of Austin, Minn. died Friday evening, June 8, 2012, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.

Angeline Lillian Amundson was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Ridgeway, Iowa, the daughter of Oluf and Louise (Hanson) Amundson. Angie attended rural school and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1939. After graduation, she moved to Austin and was employed by Geo A. Hormel and Company. On June 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lemuel “Bud” Read Jr. in Austin. Angie was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, church and other organizations. Angie also played the organ, guitar and harmonica and loved to dance and attend square dances. She was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway.

Survivors include her husband, Lemuel “Bud” Read of Austin; three sons, Gordon “Jim” (Dorothy) Read of Rochester, Minn., Larry (Evie) Read of Woodbury, Minn., and David (Vicki) Read of North St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Candace (Bob) Hample of Austin, Derek Read of Orono, Minn., Stacy (Dennis) Wilson of Rochester, Sarah (Matt) Stay of Albert Lea, Minn., Jennie Read of Woodbury, Angela (Adam) Pohl of Frederick, Md. and Stefan Read of Shoreview, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; half brother-in-law, Roger Read; and half sisters-in-law Linda, Lori and Nancy. She was preceded in death by two infant children; a grandson, Scott Read; her parents; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Portinga officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, rural Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Building Fund.
