Bernice Reding, 85, of Stacyville, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012.
Bernice was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Juenger) Mullenbach and was born on Dec. 26, 1926, in Johnsburg, Minn. She graduated from Adams High School, and worked as an office manager for JC Penny.
Bernice was united in marriage to Melvin Reding on Nov. 23, 1950. They operated a store in Watkins, Iowa until 1954. They then farmed near Stacyville until 1980. She enjoyed the company of and visiting with family and friends as well as playing cards, gardening, fishing, and quilting. She was an active member of the Visitation Christian Mothers, Lady Foresters and Catholic Aid Society.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Melvin Reding, Stacyville, Iowa; Five children: JoAnn (Albert) Farnham Jr., Rochester, Douglas (Janet Crossley) Reding, Marshfield, Wis., Jan (Dan) Moretz, Hanlontown, Iowa, Richard (Gloria) Reding, Stacyville, Iowa, Robert (Linda) Reding, Fort Madison; ten grandchildren and four great-grand children; two brothers: Leon (Johnnetta) Mullenbach, Red Wing, Nathan (Dorothy) Mullenbach, Adams; three sister-in-laws: Johanna Mullenbach, Adams, Dorothy Mullenbach, Rochester, Helen Mullenbach, Adams, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Edmond, Erwin, Roman and twin sister Beatrice.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Visitation Church or Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 4, at Visitation Church in Stacyville, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., and also one hour prior to services at the church.
