DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A teenager who was pulled from Lake Superior off the Duluth shore has died.
The St. Louis County sheriff’s office says 13-year-old Jeffrey Watson Jr. died about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at a Twin Cities hospital.
Watson was swimming with a friend Monday near an old concrete structure just off Duluth’s Lakewalk trail when he went under and didn’t surface. He was under water for about 30 minutes. Searchers used a remotely operated vehicle with a camera to help locate the boy.
Watson’s father told the Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/MB9PuO) that the teen probably would be taken off of life support because he never regained consciousness and had no chance for survival.
