Candidate profile: Paul Fischer, for county commissioner
A Brownsdale City Council member is looking to translate his experience into a post on the county board.
Paul Fischer, of Brownsdale, filed in District 1 Tuesday and will run against incumbent Tim Gabrielson and James Patrick Williams.
The 46-year-old Fischer is serving his fourth year on the council and said he is been pleased with the amount of change he and follow council members have brought about in Brownsdale; he said there’s been business growth and new resolutions passed.
“It’s been a long process of changing some things for the better,” he said.
Fischer said he has learned a lot about working with a board and constituents, and is looking forward to bringing that knowledge to the county.
Fischer, a father of a young son and daughter, works as a marketing consultant at Three Eagles Communications. He said his experience has allowed him to interact with people on a daily basis and incorporate their opinions.
“You have to listen to what other people have to say and their needs need to be put first,” he said.
Fischer isn’t campaigning on one key county issue, but mentioned the Mower County Jail and Justice Center and Health and Human Services as interests.
While it’s too early to tell how he’ll campaign, Fischer said, he hopes to put his experience to good use.
“I would bring some great experience and some valuable input to the county,” he said.
