The Mower County Sheriff’s Department is looking for someone who allegedly tried to burglarize the Cedar River Golf Course last Friday morning.
According to the sheriff’s report, an Adams police officer pulled into the golf course parking lot at about 1:50 a.m. June 15 and noticed a truck parked near a garage door and the front door to the golf course propped open by a chair. While nothing was stolen, the front door was broken.
The suspect allegedly fled in the truck into a bean field, left the truck in the field and then fled on foot. The Adams officer called for backup, and a Mower County deputy and state patrol officer set up a perimeter around the field. A state patrol helicopter also flew over the area. While authorities did not locate the suspect, they did tow and impound the 1993 Toyota T-100 truck that was left in the field. The report also states burglary tools, including a 22-inch pry bar, large hammer and screw driver, were in the back of the truck. The sheriff’s department will not release the name of the suspect, as the case is still under investigation.
