Freedom Fest is on the horizon, and the Austin City Council Monday will consider what to provide for the festival.

The council will review a request from the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce for Freedom Fest preparations at a regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 4.

Freedom Fest is June 30 through July 4. The festival will include food, games, live entertainment and a parade. Activities also include a bike race, fishing contest and street dances. According to Forstner’s letter, the Chamber is working with city departments including Parks and Rec, and police to address all the requests for the festival.

A fireworks company named Flashing Thunder is currently working on arranging a fireworks permit with Fire Chief Mickey Healey, and Forstner said the Chamber has arranged for garbage cleanup and collection.

During the City Council meeting or the work session to follow, the council will also:

—Discuss a citizen’s concern about numerous charges she received over yard mowing and property cleanup the city conducted on her property. The city will review a history of complaints made against the property over the last decade.

—Decide whether to approve a revised policy on expenses the city will cover for employees traveling for work.

—Set the dates for two public hearings for July 2: one to address sewer charges not paid by G&R Truck Wash and another to assess costs for a sanitary sewer project at Dobbins Creek Estates.

—Consider granting the Planning and Zoning Department the authority to contract to remove junk and illegally-stored vehicles at two Austin properties: 505 Fifth Ave. NW and 600 Second Ave. SW.

—Consider whether to post meeting notes from future Coffee with the Council events online.

—Hear an update on The Hormel Institute expansion.

—Review the 2013 budget.
