Edward J. Boyenga, 65 of Austin, Minn. died Friday, June 1, 2012, at his home.
Edward was born on July 31, 1946, in Austin to Anton and Marjorie (Thompson) Boyenga. He attended Austin Public Schools, graduating from Austin High School in 1964. Edward and Lona Broten were wed in 1965. The couple had three children. Edward loved to do woodworking and was very talented. He also loved playing guitar. Edward worked at McFarland trucking company for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lona Boyenga of Austin; son, James (Joan) Boyenga of Albert Lea, Minn.; daughter, Lori Ryks of Austin; five grandchildren, Tasha Ryks, Courtney Ryks, Emma Boyenga, Grace Boyenga, Calvin Boyenga; sister, Linda (Wayne) Wollenberg of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Marjorie Boyenga; two brothers, Tony Boyenga and Arnold Boyenga; and son, Jon Edward Boyenga.
A memorial lunch will be served Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. for family and friends of Edward at the home of his sister, Linda (Wayne) Wollenberg, 22064 565th Ave. (Going east on I -90 take exit 181, turn left onto 28th Street NE, 560th Ave. Turn right onto County Road 46. Drive about 1/2 mile to 565th Ave., turning left onto 565th Ave. to the last house on the right.)
