OWATONNA – The Austin Post 91 Legion baseball team split a doubleheader at Owatonna as Jacob Kempen pitched a two-hitter in a 7-1 win and Owatonna took the nightcap 6-2 Sunday.
Kempen struck out four as he held Owatonna’s lineup in check throughout the night.
“He did a really nice job,” Post 91 head coach Bob Stratton said. “He’s not overpowering, but he kept them off-balanced.”
Marcus Stoulil went 3-for-4 with a double and he drove in three runs in the win and Gabe Kasak knocked in two runs.
While Stratton would’ve liked a sweep, he said the team was glad to get at least one win.
“When you win that first one, you always get greedy and want to win two,” Stratton said. “But we’ll take the split and I’m happy with how the boys played.”
