A simple broken taillight resulted in two felony convictions for one Adams man.
Dominic David Ozuna, 29, was sentenced Friday in Mower County Court to five years’ supervised probation and 80 hours of work service for two felony counts of fifth-degree drug possession.
According to the complaint, an officer stopped Ozuna near Adams for a broken taillight at 1:50 a.m. on Feb. 3 and noticed he was with two teenage girls. Ozuna said the younger girls were babysitting for him, and he was giving them a ride to get food and a hotel but later said he didn’t have money and they were staying with him, according to the complaint. Ozuna reportedly got angry, and police cuffed him and found .1 gram of meth in his pocket. Ozuna admitted he had a powder substance in the vehicle, and an officer searched and found an Airsoft pistol spray painted like a real gun with .7 grams of meth underneath it. Ozuna said he was to deliver the drugs to one of the teen’s boyfriend, according to the complaint.
