HAYFIELD — The Hayfield Heat kept their season alive when they beat Wanamingo 8-3 in a Twin Rivers Tournament elimination game Sunday.

The No. 3 seeded Heat lost to Kasson 2-1 Saturday in Hayfield after allowing a two-out, two-run double with two outs in the top of the eighth, and they had to play with their backs to the wall against No. 7 Wanamingo.

Travis Kauffman hit a solo homer in Sunday’s win for the Heat (16-7 overall), who will play at Region qualifying game against Winona in either Marcusen Park or Riverland Community College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
