Home sales soared in Austin last month, jumping by 46 percent compared to the same month last year.
Forty-eight homes were sold in Austin in June, according to data released Thursday by the Southeast Minnesota Association of Realtors, up from 32 in May and 33 in June 2011.
“June home sales remain on the same upward trending path for the rest of the months this year,” said Angie Schott, SEMAR President.
There have been 190 homes sold in 2012, an 11 percent increase from 171 through six months in 2011.
Homes are selling quicker — selling in 120 days on average this year compared to 134 days through June 2011 — and new listings have fallen considerably, from 34 in June and 450 this year compared to 64 in June 2011 and 501 through six months last year. Based on that, Schott said she doesn’t see any indications home prices are going up. In fact, the median sale price in Austin went from $75,000 in May to $73,000 in June.
The 190 homes sold this year is higher than Winona/Goodview, at 179, Owatonna, at 147, and Albert Lea, at 94.
