Scharlene Fay Schroeder, 65, of Rochester, Minn., passed away on July 10, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital following a battle with cancer.

Scharlene Fay Gommels was born on June 7, 1947, in Hayfield, Minn. to Frederick and Helen Gommels. She graduated from Hayfield High School. On March 30, 1968, she married Daniel G. Schroeder in Austin, Minn. Along with being a devoted homemaker, she worked for Plants P.S. and did daycare in Rochester. She loved camping, traveling to warm destinations, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Dan of more than 43 years; a son Gary (Jennifer) of Dexter, Minn.; daughter Angela (Darren) of Rochester; grandchildren Jacob, Dalton, and Korey Schroeder; and a sister, Carol (Mike) Mestad of Rock Dell, Minn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.

A memorial service for Scharlene is planned for 2 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Pastor Karna Hagen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
