The Austin Area Commission for the Arts presents three fantastic events this coming week.
Our week of entertainment kicks off at the Hormel Historic Home (HHH) hosting the Koo Koo Kanga Roo Band at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in their outdoor garden area. The concert is free and will take place at the Historic Paramount Theatre if it is raining.
Then, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Historic Paramount Theatre, we are hosting the official unveiling of the 1928 Mason and Hamline piano that was generously donated to the HHH by MarySue Hormel Harris. HHH is allowing the Austin Area Commission for the Arts to use the piano for our events.
We have invited several community pianists to help celebrate this wonderful gift. They include: Scott Blankenbaker, Peter Jacobs, Shane DeSilva, Kalle Akkerman, Ezekiel Peters, and Brian Johnson.
The concert is free and each pianist will perform several pieces.
Back by popular demand, the week will conclude with Rubber Soul: The Beatles Tribute at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 at the door, and student tickets are $5.
They can be purchased by calling 434-0934 or online at paramounttheatre.org.
Rubber Soul’s presentation includes the entire catalogue of Beatles’ work including the early British invasion, the psychedelic era of Sgt. Pepper and the later Beatles.
Their performance includes several costume changes, as well as authentic guitars, amps, etc.
