An Austin who allegedly punched a woman and briefly knocked her out pleaded not guilty Thursday in Mower County Court.

Jorge Alfredo Ramirez, 25, of Austin, pleaded not guilty to felony third-degree domestic assault and gross misdemeanor domestic assault. According to the victim, Ramirez punched her at about 11:30 p.m. on July 21 because she would not have sex with him. The victim claims she was knocked out for several minutes. Police spoke with the victim, who they say had blood on her chin, according to the complaint. Police then arrested Ramirez and took him to the Mower County jail.

Ramirez’s pretrial is Sept. 20.
