John Ressler, 89, Elkton

John Ressler, 89, of rural Elkton, Minn., died Saturday evening, Aug. 4, 2012, at his farm home near Elkton.

John ResslerJohn Ressler was born June 25, 1923, in Tuleta, Texas, the son of Christian L. and Anna (Zimmerman) Ressler. He attended school in New York and later received a degree in diesel auto mechanics. On July 24, 1954, John was united in marriage to Naomi Kratz Derstein in Hatfield, Penn. The couple moved from Pennsylvania to a dairy farm in the Elkton area in 1973. In February 2006, they moved to the Cedar Court Apartments in Adams, but returned to the farm in 2008. He enjoyed working with equipment and could fix anything.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Ressler of rural Elkton; three children, John Ray (Lisa) Ressler of rural Elkton, Mary Ellen (David) Dreher of Millville and Timothy Lee (Karen) Ressler of Virginia; eight grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Christian and Anna; two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in North Lawrence, Ohio.
