Austin American Legion Post 91 will be a busy place come Aug. 12, when the Minnesota American Legion Legacy Ride rolls through.
Post 91 will be the last stop on the Legacy Ride, which has a fund established for higher education for the estimated 11,000 children who have parents who died in combat. The riders are expected to arrive between 12:30 and 1 p.m.
All funds raised are placed in trust and the interest used to provide scholarships to those children.
To celebrate its arrival, the Legion Post will be hosting a hog roast open to the public with proceeds to benefit the Legacy Scholarship Fund beginning at noon. The lunch will include roasted pork and sides.
Donations are welcome, and checks can be made to the “American Legion Foundation” and submitted to the Post at 809 12th St. SW for those unable to attend.
