Caroline A. Brill Stenger, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at her home in Austin, Minn., on Sept. 5, 2012.
She was born April 14, 1930, in Stevens Point, Wis., to John and Regina Brill. On Sept. 3, 1956, she was wed to Joseph Stenger. Carol lived in Austin for nearly 60 years and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for St. Edward’s Church and Christ Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing bridge (lots of bridge), golfing and collecting angels. Carol also spent an afternoon or two supporting the local casinos. Her travels were always with family and usually took her to visit family around the states.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents and siblings Marvin and Bernadine Brill. She is survived by children and grandchildren, Stephen Stenger, Christene Jolowsky (Michael), Claire and Nora, Therese Thomas (Kenneth), Ellen Anderson (Scott), Benjamin and wife Julia, Nicholas, Julie Clasen (Martin), Sandra and Samantha; siblings, Lee Peterson and Carl Brill; many nieces, nephews and in-laws; and close friends (including golf and bridge partners). Heaven has another angel.
A funeral Mass for Caroline Stenger will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Augustine or the local food shelf. Mayer Funeral Home of Austin is entrusted with the arrangements.
