Funeral services for Mark C. Austinson will be held 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 6, 2012, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Norman W. Wahl officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, also at Bethel Lutheran Church 810 3rd Ave. SE Rochester and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mark C. Austinson, 51, of Bloomington died unexpectedly Thursday August 30, 2012 while at work.

Mark Carroll Austinson was born July 18, 1961 in Rochester to Paul Austinson and Jane Bell Austinson. He attended and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1980 and continued his education at Rochester Community College, Winona State University and received his A.A. Degree at Inver Hills Community College. Mark worked for Check Technologies of Eden Prairie for many years and was currently employed at Honeywell in Golden Valley. Mark was an avid sports fan from a young age. He played Rochester Youth Baseball and enjoyed playing golf, but his true passion was for the Minnesota Vikings which he had since the age of three. He was a very caring, sentimental and generous individual who was extremely loyal to his friends but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his partner Tanya Myers.

Mark is survived by his long time partner Tanya Myers of Bloomington, his father Paul (Joan) Austinson of Rochester, his mother Jane (Robert) Walker of Leigh High Acres, Fla., one brother, John (Julie) Austinson of Eyota, and one sister Jacqueline (Ron) Rietveld of Aitkin, Minn. He is also survived by a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the visitation. Memorials are preferred to the family to be used for youth scholarships in Mark’s name. Condolences may be left at www.hindtfuneralhomes.com
