An emergency response landed a St. Ansgar woman in jail last month, and now she has pleaded not guilty to a felony and gross misdemeanor charge against her.
Mower County deputies and EMTs went to County Road 19 and 130th Street in Nevada Township at about 4:40 a.m. Aug. 4 after Amanda Lynn Kruse, 30, allegedly called and reported the passenger in her vehicle overdosed on methamphetamine. When police arrived, the passenger was awake but had a flushed face and was breathing heavily.
The overdose victim was taken to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin; however, Kruse was questioned and appeared nervous, acted rapidly and wouldn’t maintain eye contact with officers. According to the complaint, Kruse admitted the meth was hers and that she also used some the previous night. An officer found a baggy containing meth on the ground outside of the vehicle, the report adds. Kruse was arrested but posted $3,000 bond and was released.
Kruse pleaded not guilty on Thursday in Mower County Court to felony drug possession and gross misdemeanor third-degree controlled substance DWI. Her next court appearance is Jan. 18, 2013.
