Evelyn Stenzel, 87, Wells

Evelyn Stenzel, 87, of Wells, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells with the Rev. Thomas Niehaus officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home, with Rosary at 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Stenzel

Evelyn Isabelle Stenzel was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Clark, S.D., the daughter of Ernest Gene and Ida (Curtis) Lorenz. Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert Frank Stenzel on January 27, 1948 in Wells. She was a hairdresser for more than 50 years. Evelyn was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, CCW and worked with the sewing circle at the church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved fishing and crocheting.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Barbara Jean (Francis) Svoboda and Elaine (William) Schiebel, all of Hutchinson, Norbert Stenzel of Lacrosse, Wis., Arnie (Margo) Stenzel of Wells, and Gwen (Tim) Eich of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Lisa, Lori, Lynn, Mark, Christopher, Nathan, Adam, Ryan, Joe, Melissa and DeAnna; eight great-grandchildren: Michaela, Morgan, Daunte, Kimberly, Audrey, Mariah, Henry and Sophia; three brothers: James (Adeline) Lorenz of Wells, Donnie (Angie) Lorenz of Clark, S.D., and Ted (Shirley) Lorenz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three sisters: Frances Riter of Rapid City, S.D., Margaret Fister of Watertown, S.D., and Wilma Bull of Watertown; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Lorenz of Alden; and one brother-in-law Lawrence (Mary) Stenzel of Decatur, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob in 2007; daughter-in-law Alisha Stenzel; brother Phillip Lorenz; and brother-in-law Harold Riter.
