OK, so you’re all ready for the weekend. Wait. Put some good shoes on, especially for those participating in this first event.
Running the night
1.) The YMCA of Austin, 704 First Drive NW, is hosting Run the Night. The run starts at 7 p.m. Friday and is $25 to register. Register at ymca-austin.com.
Drinks with class
2.) For those looking for the best drink in town, they may find it at The Hormel Historic Home, 208 Fourth Ave. NW on Friday. Austin’s Best Bartender competition begins at 5 p.m.
Friday, with competitions such as best bloody mary, best specialty drink and best blind drink. The show is $5 for spectators.
Piano at Grace
3.) Fast forward to Sunday, where Sarah Kang, former Austin resident, will bring her piano music to Grace Baptist Church at 10:15 a.m. Grace Baptist Church is located at 100 Fourth Ave. SE.
Chicken n biscuits
4.) But Grace Baptist isn’t the only church with a few things up its sleeve. Try First United Methodist Church’s annual chicken and buscuit supper and bake sale. The event is from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 12 and free for younger. First United Methodist is located at 204 First Ave. NW.
Other events
Next weekend is packed with entertainment and politics (separately, that is). Check out a YMCA teen dance, music workshop, rock concert at the paramount or a candidate forum at the Holiday Inn in Austin.
