Austin’s premier pourer has been decided.

Adam Wradislavsky, a bartender at the B & J Bar and Grill, was selected Friday night as Austin’s Best Bartender. Four contestants participated in the competition, which took place at the Hormel Historic Home. It was open to any bartender willing to sign up who is employed in Mower County.

Three judges led the decision as to who would be crowned winner, though the audience also had a chance to get their input counted.

“Everybody that came, after they paid their cover, got one voting chip,” said Laura Helle of the Hormel Historic Home.

Some people were there to support their favorite bartender, she said, while others “shopped around” to see which bartender would get their vote.

The competition involved technical rounds, such as the “blind pour,” where bartenders had to pour out exactly one ounce of liquor without the aid of any measuring tools. Another round focused on how fast the contestants could open a wine bottle.

There were also style rounds, including best martini and best bloody Mary. Audience members got to taste many of those drinks for themselves.

“After the best martini round, the bartenders would give out sample sizes,” Helle said.

The winner, Wradislavsky, did not immediately return calls for comment.
