Stroke Detection Plus, a mobile ultrasound service that specializes in preventative health screenings throughout the Midwest, will be conducting stroke and vascular screenings in Austin on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Hy-Vee, 1001 18th Ave. NW.

Using ultrasound for early detection can prevent 75-80 percent of strokes. Of the 750,000 that occurred last year, 2/3 of those people showed no signs or symptoms prior to having a stroke. An estimated 97 percent of people would not recognize a sign or symptom if they were having one.
