Marjorie Severtson, 95, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Marjorie K Severtson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.

Marjorie “Marge” Severtson passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community. She was 95 years old.

Marge was born on Oct. 31, 1917, in Albert Lea.The daughter of Henry and Thea (Jensen) Severtson, she graduated from Albert Lea High School and was a resident of Albert Lea all of her life. She held several jobs throughout her life, working at Queens Stove Works, Church Engraving, Drug Supply and May Engineering. She was considered a “professional volunteer” spending time at the Trinity Church office where she put together bulletins and flyers, and at St. John’s Lutheran Home at the reception desk. She also enjoyed traveling, with trips within the United States, as well as in Europe.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, participating in the Brazil Circle, Group Circle, and 52 years in the Altar Guild. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, needlepoint, gardening, cards and playing games. Family was very important to her, and she was like a grandmother to all her grandnieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Thea; sister, Irene (George) Christensen; brothers: Raymond Severtson and Don (Marvel) Severtson; sister-in-law, Lois (Cliff) Brown; niece, Susan (Ron) Swanson; and great-grandnephew, Kyle Jansen.

Marge is survived by her nieces: Shirley (David) Wolfe of Cook, Nancy (Gene) Millang of Freeborn and Linda (Scott) Larsen of Newburgh, Ind.; nephews: Gary (Gail) Severtson of Mound and Todd (Valerie) Severtson of Cincinnati, Ohio; grand nieces and nephews: Dan (Janis) Wolfe, Deb (Chuck) Jansen, Tom Wolfe, Ben (Sarah) Severtson, Jill (Jeff) Groves, Lee (Jesseah) Severtson, Melissa (Drew) Watters, Brad (Nicole) Larsen, Olivia Severtson, Chris (Sneha) Swanson and Carolyn (Matt) Bickel; several great-grandnieces and nephews; and other loving friends.
