Funeral services for Dorothy Adeline Holmquist will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Oakland Lutheran Church. The Rev. Bob Berthold will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Dorothy died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Mayo Health Systems, Albert Lea.

Dorothy Adeline Holmquist was born on Aug. 31, 1916, in Freeman Township, Freeborn County. She was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County, attending District 66 School, the Waldorf Academy, and graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1933. In 1934, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Lee at the Lunder Lutheran Church. In 1971, she was married to Raymond Holmquist at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Dorothy was employed as a Legal secretary for the firm of Hanson and Grinley. She was a member of the Oakland Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and was a member of the WELCA. She was a past president of the Freeborn-Mower Legal Secretaries, a past secretary of the Freeborn County DFL, and the Minnesota 1st District DFL, and was a member of the B.P.W. Club. Dorothy was also a 25-year member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a past member of the Library Anns and the Oakland Library Committee. She enjoyed quilting for world relief, also needlepoint, latch hook, embroidery and daily crossword puzzles. Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her daughters Nancy (Roger) Espe and Carole Berg; daughter-in-law Isabel Lee; step-daughter Dianne (Richard) Krogh; step-son Bryan (Betty) Holmquist; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Raymond Lee and Raymond Holmquist, Son Darryl Lee, son-in-law Calvin Berg, six brothers, a sister and many other family members.
