Emily Bessie Hansen, 95, Austin

Emily Bessie Hansen, 95, of Austin, Minn., passed into the presence of her lord and savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2012, at Comforcare in Austin.

Emily was born July 26, 1917, in Redwood County, Minn., to Emil and Emma (Smetak) Prantner. She lived by Seaforth, Minn., until age 12 and lived by Glenville and Myrtle, Minn., until her marriage to Morris E. Hansen on Sept. 14, 1940, in Myrtle. Morris and Emily lived in the Austin area until 1973 and then moved by Battle Lake, Minn. They lived there until Morris died on Sept. 9, 1987. Emily then moved back to Austin. She enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She was known for her friendly smile. Emily was a member of First Baptist Church in Austin.

Survivors include her children, Delores (Dave) Miller of McGregor, Minn., Roger (Carol) Hansen of Austin, Marvin (Marva) Hansen of Florida and Laraine (Lyle) Goskesen of Austin; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Emil (Bev) Prantner of Austin; a sister-in-law, Barb Prantner of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris; son, Gene Hansen; infant sister, Elsie; and four brothers, Jerome, Milo, Edward and Donald.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Faith E. Free Church in Austin with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
