Russell Gene Luns, 56, of Austin, Minn., died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at his home.

Russell was born Sept. 24, 1956, in Austin to William and Sylvia (Stevenson) Luns. After growing up in Austin, he moved to New Orleans where he worked as a cook. Upon his return to Austin, he was employed by Austin Packaging. Russell liked fishing, playing cards and pool and also enjoyed gambling.

Survivors include his brothers William Luns Jr. and Steven Luns, both of Austin; Terry (Ki) Luns of New Zealand; sister-in-law Janice Luns of Des Moines; nieces and nephews; and a special lady in his life, Cindy Vaughn of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Sylvia Luns, his sister Wanda Moore in 2009, his brother Rocky Luns in 2012.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
