Beth Jeanette Bottelson was born on Sept. 24, 1921, in Moscow Township, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Olson) Nelson. She grew up on Big Island and later moved to Hartland. On June 21, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Bottelson at the West Freeborn Lutheran Church. During World War II Betty worked at Wilson & Co. She later worked at various jobs including Streater, Northpark, Miami Margarine and again at Wilson & Co, which had become Farmstead. She also worked as a food demonstrator in grocery stores. Betty was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the ladies circle there. She volunteered for Loaves and Fishes. She also belonged to the Elk’s Lodge and the Eagle’s Lodge. Hobbies that she enjoyed include bird watching, flower gardening, cooking, making lefse and embroidery. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. She took particular pleasure in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty and Lloyd were members of a polka group and loved going dancing at locations all around the area. Travel was another love Betty enjoyed. She and Lloyd took their fifth-wheel trailer down south to McAllen, Texas, Mission, Texas, and Arizona for several years. They also went on many motor coach trips to places such as Branson, Mo., Wyoming, Alaska, Cape Cod and the Great Smoky Mountains. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her husband Lloyd, sons Jerry (Linda) Bottelson, Randy (Cindy) Bottelson, and Steve (Sue) Bottelson, grandchildren Tonya Bottelson, Amber (Ben) Honsey, Travis (Katelyn) Bottelson and Laura Bottelson; great-grandchildren Landon and Makaylah Honsey; sisters June Houston and Lillian Cusick; sister-in-law Beverly Nelson; and nieces and nephews.
