Hayfield boys take third in Tartan Tournament

TARTAN — The Hayfield boys basketball team took third place in the Tartan Tournament when it beat Rogers (3-7 overall) 66-61 Saturday.
The Vikings (7-2 overall) trailed 57-50 with nine minutes left in the game, when they mounted an 11-0 run. Hayfield took the lead for good when Cole Kruger, who finsished with 26 points, hit two free throws to make it 59-57.
“This was a huge win over a ‘AAAA’ school and it’ll give us confidence to build on,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said.
Kruger, a junior guard, averaged 24 points per game in the three-game Tartan Tournament.
