ROCHESTER — Cole Kruger hit a buzzer beating jump shot to lift the Hayfield boys basketball team over Rochester Lourdes (5-2 overall, 1-2 HVL Gold) on the road Friday.

Lourdes tied the game with a three with 10 seconds left and Kruger drove to the free throw line where he pulled up for a 15-footer and knocked it down for the win.

“We just made the last play,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “It was much needed.”

Kruger and Brady Kramer combined for 40 of Hayfield’s 51 points in the win.

The Vikings (5-1 overall, 1-0 HVL Gold) trailed 26-19 at the break, but they went 12-for-20 in the second half.

“Lourdes was one of the favorites in the conference going into the season and we knew could play with them,” Pack said. “This is a huge win.”
