Lloyd Raymond Hilden, 86, Austin

Lloyd “Sarge” Raymond Hilden, 86, of Austin, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

Lloyd was born June 22, 1926, in Red Wing, Minn., to Ray and Pearl (Miller) Hilden. He moved to Minneapolis as a boy and attended Central High School. Lloyd spent 20 years in US Army, where he served in the Korean War. After serving in the army, Lloyd worked for 20 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Austin. He enjoyed the Vikings, Twins and most of all playing cards daily with his friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife of more than 50 years, Evelyn; and brother, Ken. Lloyd is survived by his children, Sally (Keith) Beckel, Dubuque, Iowa, Mike (Diane) Hilden, Pardeeville, Wis., Russ (Linda) Wensole, Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother John Hilden, Minneapolis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary chapel. Military rites will be held by Olaf B. Damm Post No. 1216 VFW and Austin Post No. 91 American Legion. A luncheon will be served at the VFW immediately following the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
