4) Making it official

Austin seniors Joe Aase and Tom Aase, who are cousins, couldn’t have pictured a better memory at their high school.

They were side-by-side and they were signing letters-of-intent for full-ride basketball scholarships.

Joe will be headed to Division I Davidson College, which is a perrenial threat to make it to the NCAA Tournament, and Tom will be headed to Division II University of Sioux Falls.

The Aase’s have played together since they were kindergartners and they’ve logged in at least 1,000 games as teammates, since they also played AAU basketball together over the summer.

This year will probably be their last as teammates and they’re hoping to get back to the state tournament.
