Robert Steven “Ducky” Duckstad, 56, passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 8, 2013, at his home in Hayfield, Minn.
Robert was born on July 28, 1956, in Litchfield, Minn., the son of David B. and Beverly (Haugen) Duckstad. He graduated from Warren High School in 1974. He worked with Wages Motor Supply in Warren, Minn., and then with NAPA in Grand Forks, N.D. as manager in auto parts and sales. Robert moved to Hayfield in 1992, and worked for NAPA in Hayfield, Dodge Center and Kasson. He was united in marriage to Wendy Martin on Aug. 18, 2012. Robert enjoyed motorcycles, cars, camping and boating.
Robert is survived by his wife, Wendy Duckstad, Hayfield; son, Ben (Kristen Hanson) Duckstad, Warren; parents, David B. and Beverly Duckstad, Warren; one grandson, Oslo; brother, James (Tami) Duckstad, Warren; two sisters, Kathy (James) Gross, Fargo, N.D., and Mary (Mark) Carlson, Hayfield. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Devin; and grandparents.
The funeral service for Robert Steven Duckstad will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660th Ave., Sargeant, Minn., with the Reverend Dwight Dobell officiating. Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Family prefers memorial to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
