It’s time for the changing of the guard on the Austin Public Schools board.

New school board members Don Leathers and Mary Jane Kestner will be sworn in and take their oaths of office at a noon meeting on Monday at Austin High School. A new school board chair to replace Jeff Kritzer, whose term expired at the end of 2012, will also be chosen, along with a vice-chairperson, clerk and treasurer.

Later in the meeting, board members will get an overview of the 2013 school board committees, such as the Policy Committee or the Gifted and Talented Advisory Council. The board will also selected an official newspaper to publish its minutes and official notices.
