A registered sex offender charged with having sex with an Austin teenager and fondling a child younger than 5 — both within three months — changed his plea to guilty Wednesday in Mower County Court.
Brian Broulik, 39, of Blooming Prairie, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim younger than 16.
Broulik was also charged on June 14 in Dodge County Court with felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct for fondling the child.
According to court complaints, Broulik arranged to meet with the Austin teen in March while the teen’s parents were gone. In May, an FBI agent also served Broulik with a federal search warrant and found child pornography on Broulik’s phone, including video of Broulik allegedly fondling the child, according to the Dodge County Court complaint.
Broulik is already listed as a Level 3 sex offender, as he was convicted in 1997 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in Steele County and again of the same charge in Rice County in 1998. He also violated his terms of offender registration in Freeborn County in 2007 and has a restraining order violation of a victim younger than 18 pending in Olmsted County Court.
Broulik’s sentencing is May 2.
