Two local women say an Austin man assaulted them while he was high on hallucinogenic mushrooms.
According to the Mower County Court complaint, the victims say Matthew Dobs, 30, was violent on Dec. 30 after eating the mushrooms. Dobs reportedly grabbed one woman’s neck and pushed the other woman into a wall. He had also been breaking items within the home and had blood on his arms, according to the court complaint.
When police arrived, Dobs was uncooperative, so they sprayed him with pepper spray and shocked him with a Taser. Dobs was taken to the hospital before being arrested. One of the victims allegedly turned over the mushrooms to police.
Dobs was charged Monday with felonies for domestic assault by strangulation and fifth-degree drug possession. He also faces gross misdemeanor charges for two counts of domestic assault for subsequent violations and obstructing the legal process, along with a misdemeanor charge for property damage.
His next court appearance is set for Jan. 10.
