A pair of events to round out your February fun

Two fantastic events happening this week at the Historic Paramount Theatre.
Southgate Elementary School will present “Gray and Grey,” at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
It’s a play about acceptance and understanding. Meet Gray, the bird, and Grey, the student, as they find themselves in a very colorful world. Discover how they find their place in this new world.
Directed by Lisa Deyo, tickets for this fun event are only $1 at the door.
Then, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, guitarist Billy McLaughlin returns to the Paramount as a guest artist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
Billy was last seen on the Paramount Stage this past December with his “SimpleGifts” concert.
Although the Symphony is in their 56th season, this event will mark the Symphony’s first performance at the Paramount. It is a chance for the Symphony to reach a new audience, and a chance for the Paramount to do the same.
The concert itself will focus on the music of Beethoven, specifically his “Coriolanus Overture,” “Symphony No.7,” and “Selections from the Light.”
Billy’s appearance with the Symphony is made possible in part by Minnesota voters through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Tickets for this memorable event are $12 advance, $15 at the door for adults, college students are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and students grades K-12 are free.
The tickets can be purchased at the Paramount Theatre box office and at the door the day of the performance.
