FARIBAULT – The Blooming Prairie boys basketball team swept the season series against Faribault Bethlehem Academy (13-8 overall, 7-4 Gopher) with a 64-53 win on the road.
BP senior Michael Thomas scored his 1,000th career point in the win and the Awesome Blossoms (11-8 overall, 7-3 Gopher) showed more balance than they have all year as they had four players in double figures.
“It was a true team win with several guys stepping up and playing their best game of the year,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “BA concentrated their defensive efforts on John Rumpza and Michael Thomas. Everyone stepped their game up and took advantage of opportunities throughout the game.”
Thomas finished with 15 points and four rebounds and freshman Anthony Nelson had two points, six assists and five rebounds.
“I can’t say enough about how well Jake Decker, Anthony Nelson, and Weston Fiebiger played tonight,” Bruns said. “Brett Wacek, Jimmy Mans, Hunter Rudlong, and Collin Yankoviak also had some very nice minutes for us.”
