Plunging for Pink caps week of fundraisers for Hormel Institute
The inaugural “Plunging for Pink” was a runaway success, according to Cheryl Corey of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Corey said the event, one of the last of the second-annual Paint the Town Pink fundraiser for The Hormel Institute’s cancer research, raised more than $15,000, three times more than they expected.
“Everyone who jumped went in with a smile,” said Corey, a member of the event’s planning committee. “Everybody had a great time.”
Corey said there were over 100 plungers, and each plunger had to raise at least $50, but some raised as much as $2,000.
She said they’re already planning for next year.
