Surrounded and cared for by her loving family and friends, Joy Long Brown, 51, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2013, after succumbing to a long-term illness.
Joy was born in Austin, Minn., on Oct. 9, 1961. After graduating in 1980, she moved to Houston, Texas. She was married to Paul Brown from 1984 to 2003. In 1993, she and her family moved to Lakeway, Texas. Joy lived with her brother and sister-in-law for the last 11 months.
Blessed with beauty, style and brilliance, Joy lived her life with a genuine passion for the “good life,” fun and laughter. But her true beauty was her gift of generosity. Contributions to the Make a Wish Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes, and many more were common. However, it didn’t stop there; recipients of her kindness and generosity include LTISD schools, teachers, her children’s friends and her friends and family.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her children Cassie and Eric Brown of Dallas; parents, Bob and Kay Long of Cumberland, Wis.; brother and sister-in-law, Curt and Debra Long; and niece, Ashlee Long, of Katy, Texas; nephew, Curtis, and his wife, Brittany Long of Houston, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2400 Wilcrest Dr., Houston, TX 77042 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19. In lieu of flowers or to post your condolences, please visit www.joysjourneyhome.com
