Top seeded BP boys cruise to subsection semis

BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The top-seeded Blooming Prairie boys basketball team cruised past No. 8 Glenville-Emmons (6-21 overall) 63-47 in the Section 1A West quarterfinals in BP Thursday.
The Awesome Blossoms (17-9 overall) led by more than 20 several times in the second half.
Sophomore John Rumpza had 31 points, 14 rebounds, six steals and three blocks for BP and senior Michael Thomas added 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
BP will now play No. 5 Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (10-14 overall) in the subsection semifinals in Mayo Civic Auditorium Tuesday at 6 p.m.
BP beat JWP twice, by scores of 65-53 and 64-46 in the regular season.
