A 21-year-old predatory offender was sentenced to one year in prison Thursday after he reportedly violated his registration requirements.
Richard Alan Ferguson Jr., now of Austin, will serve the time in the St. Cloud prison and will receive credit for 80 days spent in the Freeborn County jail.
Ferguson was convicted in 2010 of child pornography possession and had been required to register information with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, including where he lives, where he works, what he drives and if he owns property.
According to court records, Ferguson had not registered a vehicle he was driving or where he was working.
Police reportedly discovered the registration violation while conducting an investigation into a possible victim of child pornography. A detective discovered that Ferguson’s address was within a block of the suspected victim.
While investigating the registration, the detective found Ferguson registered a black Oldsmobile Achieva and that he was unemployed, as of March 2, 2012.
In May, he was issued a speeding ticket while driving a green Pontiac.
He also worked at Wendy’s for two months without reporting it.
