Diane Marie King, 61, Rose Creek

Diane Marie King, 61, of Rose Creek, Minn., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at her home.

Diane KingDiane was born on March 19, 1951, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Oral and Winnifred (Katcher) Phippen. She attended St. Williams Catholic School in Alta Vista, Iowa, and graduated from New Hampton Public High School, New Hampton, Iowa, in 1969. On Feb. 5, 1972, she married Paul King at St. Bernard’s Church in Alta Vista. Diane was a daycare provider for 31 years.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, playing games and cards with the kids, relaxing at the cabin up north, Hot Rod rides, making homemade bread and spending time with family and friends. Diane was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Choir. She helped organize the Rose Creek Charity Drive for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Winnie Phippen; brother, Ed Phippen; mother and father-in-law Philip and Marie King; brothers-in-law Dale Carter and Jerry Larson; niece Jennifer King and nephew Jason Wolff.

Diane is survived by her husband, Paul King, Rose Creek; children, Brian King, Stewartville, Minn.; Jolyn (Paul) Harvey, Rose Creek; and John King, Stewartville; granddaughters Megan and Heather Harvey.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Rose Creek. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
