Madeline O. Braaten, 98, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Austin.
Madeline Orphy Burger was born on May 6, 1914, in Morristown, Minn., to Albert and Wilhelmina (Meyer) Burger. She graduated from Austin High School in 1933. Madeline worked as a house keeper and cleaning lady in addition to raising her daughter, Barbara Page. She was a member of the Friendly 24 Club. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening and planting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harlan Page in 1957 and husband, Bennie Braaten in 1996, two brothers, Chet and Laurel and her half brother Robert Lauritzen.
Madeline is survived by her daughter Barbara Page, Austin; half sister, Alice Gallaher, Austin; sister-in-law, Jeanne Lauritzen, Austin; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Susan Rector Li officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
