The place to be on Saturday, April 6, is the Austin Holiday Inn for the third annual Taste of Mower County.

The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with food tastings of signature items from Mower County’s finest chefs and ends around 8:30 p.m. There will also be a cash bar, wine tastings, prizes, live and silent auction and entertainment by the Cedar River Strings.

Chefs will be judged on their food by guests in different categories: Restaurant Chefs and Home Chefs.

Tickets are available now: $25 for individuals, $40 for couples, $75 for a half table (four people) or $150 for a full table (eight people).

Sponsorship opportunities are also available: $1,000 for Top Chef, $750 for Iron Chef, $500 for Ace of Cakes and $250 for Galloping Gourmet.

To help make this fundraiser a success, The Arc is recruiting more sponsors, auction items and chefs. Sponsors get a lot of benefits for being a sponsor: A half or full table of eight, ads in the event program, featured on all promotional materials, your company’s logo or family’s name featured on screen at event, logo and web link on the event web page or table signage at event to name a few.

Auction items might include: Frequent flyer miles, vacation packages, behind the scenes tours, fine wine and champagne, restaurant gift certificates, gifts for the young and young at heart, spa treatments, sports, fitness and family adventures, catered parties, gifts for the home or artwork are a few examples of items that we are recruiting.

Chefs are the most important part of the event. Chefs can be from restaurants or from your home kitchen. Chefs are asked to make sample sized portions in any category they choose.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for programs with developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities that includes advocacy, housing and recreation programs in Mower County.
